Description
The successful candidate will have exceptional knowledge of the physical and psychological impact of eating disorders on clients and their families and the impact on interpersonal relationships.
This Occupational Therapist role will be to manage clients using evidence based and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, which provide clients with the confidence, skills and coping strategies required for independent living.
What you’ll do
- Work with patients to develop plans for self-management and independence.
- Provide psychological support.
- Provide a service for individuals with complex mental health, physical and social care needs who present with an eating disorder and who require intensive day care intervention, as an alternative to hospital admission.
- Be closely involved in discharge planning and immediate follow up from the service user care.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist, who will be expected to have significant knowledge and interest in working with people who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder, and competent to support their physiological and psychological needs as they arise.
You will also need to:
- BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy together with a full BVAOT membership and HCPC registration
- Previous post registration experience of working with clients who have had an eating disorder or other mental health condition.
- Experience of group interventions.
